A number of 24hr. casinos have opened in San José, many in hotels on Av. 1 near C. 5. Fiesta Casino, Av. Central, C. 7/9, has tables and slots if you want to try your luck. You must be 18+ to gamble. Movie theaters throughout San José show US releases with Spanish subtitles. Downtown is Cine Variedades, Av. Central/1, C. 5 (☎2222 6108; M-Tu and Th-Su ¢1000, W ¢500; MC/V). Sala Garbo (☎2223 1960) and Teatro Laurence Olivier (☎2222 1034), both on Av. 2, C. 28, 100m south of the Paseo Colón Pizza Hut, show a varied selection of older films from Latin and North America (¢2000). Multicines San Pedro (☎2280 0490), on the third floor of San Pedro Mall, has modern theaters with digital sound (¢1800, children ¢1500; MC/V). Try Salón de Patines Music, 200m west of JFK Park in San Pedro, where you can rollerskate (¢2000 with rental skates) and listen to pop music. (Open daily 7-10pm.
