Believe it or not, traveling for long periods of time can be hard on the wallet. Romantic images of cultivating the land in a sun-soaked vineyard may dance in your head, but in reality, casual agricultural jobs are hard to find in Italy due to the prevalence of foreign migrant workers who are often willing to work for minimal pay. Those looking for agricultural jobs will have the best luck looking in the northwest during the annual fall harvest or volunteer with WWOOF . Another popular option is to work several hours a day at a hostel in exchange for free or discounted room and/or board. Most often, these short-term jobs are found by word of mouth or by expressing interest to the owner of a hostel or restaurant.
