To get to Naples from Rome, hop on a Trenitalia train. Departures from Stazione Termini in Rome from about 5am-10pm take between 1¼-1¾hr. (ES, ES/Av, and Ex trains; €30-40) or 2-3 hours (Ic, Icn, and R trains; €10-20); tickets can be booked at the station or online (www.ferroviedellostato.it)

Aeroporto Capodichino (NAP) (Vle. Twenty airlines operate from the airport, including Alitalia, British Airways, Lufthansa, and EasyJet. The red and white Alibus shuttle travels from the airport arrivals terminal to the seaport near P. Municio and to P. Garibaldi. ( $ €3.10. h 15-20min.) City bus 3S ( $ €1.10. h Every 30min.) also runs from the arrivals terminal to P. Garibaldi but has many more stops and can be a target for pickpockets. Taxis to and from Stazione Centrale and most destinations in the centro should not have fares higher than €23—confirm with the driver before getting in.

Stazione Centrale is in the crazy part of Naples, by P. Garibaldi. Trenitalia (☎199 30 30 60) runs from Rome. ( $ From €12. h 1-3hr., every 30min. 5:40am-10:10pm.) Eurostar trains operated by Trenitalia arrive from Milan via Bologna, Florence, and Rome. ( $ €98. h 5hr., every hr. 6:30am-5:15pm.) Circumvesuviana (☎081 77 22 111 www.vesuviana.it) trains are used primarily to access outlying tourist sights such as Pompeii. Trains originate in Sorrento.
