TriBeCa’s story follows a classic Manhattan trajectory—once an industrial wasteland, it was made hip when a real estate developer coined its acronym title (“Triangle Below Canal Street”) in 1970. It’s the address of many New York celebrities, most notably Robert DeNiro, who owns several local restaurants. One of the neighborhood’s highlights is Washington Market Park, located in the triangle bounded by Greenwich, Chambers, and West St. The park hosts Thursday-evening concerts (late June to early Aug.) in its blue-and-white gazebo. (Bounded by Canal St. to the north, the Hudson River to the west, Vesey St. to the south, and E Broadway to the east. S 1 to Canal St./Varick St.; A, C, E to Canal St./Ave. of the Americas (6th Ave.); 1 to Franklin St.; 1, 2, 3 to Chambers St./W Broadway; A, C to Chambers St./Church St.)
