Museum Of The Chinese In The Americas. The first museum to be dedicated to the history of the Chinese and their descendants in the Western Hemisphere, this museum has artistic, historical, and architectural exhibits. Recently moved to a new location, it houses a number of interesting exhibits, many of which are works in progress, such as Many True Stories: Life in Chinatown On and After September 11th , as well as Where is Home?—Chinese in the Americas . One of the many unique aspects of the museum is that it collects ideas and artifacts for its exhibits from the surrounding inhabitants of Chinatown. The gift shop sells Chinese books, prints, and trinkets. (215 Centre St., between Hester and Grand St. S 6, J, M, N, Q, R, W, Z to Canal St. ☎212-619-4785; www.moca-nyc.org.
