This branch of the famous international auction house flaunts an eclectic collection of valuables before auctioning them off to the highest bidder. Former lots include paintings by Giovanni, Eric Clapton’s guitar and Tony Soprano’s blood-stained undershirt. The galleries and auctions are open to the public. There are 2-3 sales per week during the height of the season; summer months are almost dead. Call ahead for a schedule, or check online. Open M-F 9:30am-5:30pm.

Pace Wildenstein 212-421-3292; www.pacewildenstein.com), between Park and Madison Ave. S 4, 5, 6 to 59th St.; N, R, W to 5th Ave./59th St. 4 floors spread over this 10-story building are dedicated to the promotion of disparate forms of art, from West African sculpture to American contemporary painting and photography. The 3rd floor is home to the Pace Master Prints, featuring works by well-known artists such as Picasso, Miró, Matisse, and Cézanne. It’s best to call for hours; most rooms are open M-Sa 9:30am-6pm.

S 4, 5, 6 to 59th St.; N, R, W to 5th Ave./59th St. This small space showcases nineteenth- and twentieth-century European and American art, with works by Miro, Picasso, Cézanne, and Degas, and more contemporary figures like Guy Dill and Steve Perrault.
