  • Vintry Wine and Whiskey, 57 Stone St., (www.vintrynyc.com), Considered to be the premier wine and whiskey bar in New York City, Vintry Wine and Whiskey has 100 wines available by the glass and 200 whiskeys. This does not, however, mean that you have to be a Wall Street investment banker to drink here; you can get a shot of whiskey for just $4. Enjoy a plate of cheeses ($16) while you sip your wine from a stool with legs custom-made by a motorcycle mechanic. Not sure what to order? The bartenders know their stuff and will be happy to help you out. Small plates $3.50-$6. Cured meats $5-8. Desserts $7-9. Drinks from $4.   • Kilarney Rose, 127 Pearl St., betwen Hanover and Wall St. (www.killarneyrose.com), A two-for-one bar experience: the top floor is a lounge with trendy furniture and flat-screen TVs, while the bottom is a traditional Irish-style pub. Essential Gaelic wisdom is distributed overhead at the latter (e.g. “There are no strangers here, just friends who have yet to meet” and “There is nothing like a pint of stout”). The unbelievably cheap booze starts at just $4 and all pints (both domestic imported) are $4 on Saturdays and Sundays. Wine from $5. Beer from $4.50. Other alcoholic drinks from $4. Bar menu $5-17.   • Fish Market, 111 South St., between Beekman St. and Peck Slip (www.fishmarketnyc.com), Alcohol and fish: a match made in..bars near large bodies of water, most frequently. Fish Market offers top-notch deals for both. Sundays and Mondays you can get $5 draughts and $1 oysters. When the weekend rolls around, it is time for “Sexy Saturday” ($5 Absolut Shots, bucket of 5 beers $18-20).   • Heartland Brewery, 93 South Seaport (www.heartlandbrewery.com), The unique and uniquely named beers at this American brewpub are concocted at the Heartland Brewery in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, which brews 20,000 kegs yearly. The Indian River Light (a light pale ale with a dash of orange blossoms and coriander) is among the most popular, although the Grateful Red Lager, Smiling Pumpkin Ale, and Not Tonight Honey Lager have undoubtedly more ingenious names (availability varies by season).   • Ulysses Folk House, 95 Pearl St. (www.ulyssesfolkhouse.com), Ulyssesis a deluge of decoration choices: Irish folk songs on the wall (“I'll Tell Me Ma” and “Paddy Doyle's Ass” are among the best), Classical illustrations of Ulysses, Pre-Raphaelite pictures of Ulysses, an entire gallery of James Joyce pictures, etc. The drinks and food are no less overwhelming. Almost every day of the week is a different special: Monday starting at 4pm, you can get any lobster for $19. Tuesday nights 5-7pm you can get free samples of international beers. Wednesdays all night long, you can get six oysters and a pint of Guinness for $12. Saturday evening there's live music; Sunday morning they have brunch..it just doesn't stop! Beer $6. Wine $8.   • Stone Street Tavern, 85 Pearl St. (www.stonestreettavernnyc.com), Stone Street Tavern, with its ornate chandeliers and modern-art covered walls, brings an ultra-cool blend of old and new to historic 17th-century Stone St. Ladies, be sure to stop in on Wednesday nights ($5 Cosmos and Appletinis). The tavern is also a prime location for the Stone Street Festival in May and the Stone Street Oyster Festival in September. Beer $6-9. Wine $8-9. Mixed drinks $10-13. Appetizers $10-12.   • Fresh Salt, 146 Beekman St., between Front St. and FDR Dr. Equipped with wooden tables and stools and old maritime implements, Fresh Salt has the charm of an old Dutch ship. They even keep a Battleship board game, in case the mood strikes. The galley is open until 4am and serves foods much more interesting than your typical mozzarella sticks. Try the pita melt with pesto sauce, mild pecorino, fresh mozzarella, and asiago cheese ($6). Beer $6. Wine $7-8. Liquor $6-10. Sandwich $9. Pita melts $6-10.50. Plates $8-9. Brunch $10.   • Jeremy's Ale House, 228 Front St. (www.jeremysalehouse.com), Autographed bras of all sizes hang festively from the ceiling and pieces of police and fire department T-shirts cover the walls. You may not have expected to find a dive bar in the South St. Seaport area, but Jeremy runs with the best of them. While other bars worry about elegant dishes and ambience, here it's all about the pints ($5) and hot dogs ($2). They even have u Donkey Kong. Beer $4.75-5.50 per pint. Mixed drinks $6.   • Open Door Gastropub, 110 John St., between Pearl St. and Cliff St. (www.opendoornyc.com), This “gastropub” offers the exciting opportunity to drink and eat in a gallery of the many varieties of Victorian doors in Dublin. Not just pictures: actual, life-size, vibrantly-colored doors. The bartenders serve between 50 and 60 beers from behind a curving, dark wood bar, as well as a slew of different whiskeys. Enjoy your beer with an inventively gourmet menu, such as the pretzel fried bird (Cornish hen, $18). Beer $6.50-$14. Wine and mixed drinks $8-12. Appetizers $7-14. Sandwiches $14. Entrees $16-20.   • Moran's, 103 Washington St., between Washington and Greenwich St. (www.moransnyc.com), When you first see the neo-Gothic facade, stained-glass windows, and likeness of St. George above the entrance door, you will probably think you are about to step into a church. And a church this was until 1979. Now it is an emerald-interior bar and restaurant where tourists and Financial District big shots alike consume large quantities of alcohol and “comfort food.” The shepherd's pie ($16) goes perfectly with a pint of Guinness.
