Though Brooklyn Heights can’t claim to be quite as much a nightlife mecca as other Brooklyn neighborhoods, it still offers
a number of friendly hangouts.
- The Floyd, 131 Atlantic Ave. (☎718-858-5810; www.floydny.com), between Henry and Clinton St. S 2, 3, 4, 5, R to Court St./Borough Hall, F, G to Bergen St. A fantastic bar that is part Victorian parlor, part English pub,
and part indoor bocce court. In the midst of antique furniture and fully stocked book shelves is a 40ft. clay bocce court.
The bar hosts a local bocce league, as well as the New York chapter of the Premier League Tottenham Hotspurs Supporters. English
Premier League soccer televised on weekends. Check website for bocce schedule. Beer $3-6.
- Water Street Restaurant and Bar, 66 Water St. (☎718-625-9352; www.waterstreetrestaurant.com), on the corner of Main St. S A, C to High St.; F to York St. An upscale pub with art on the walls, jazz on the stereo, and great food. Beer $4-5. Wine
$7-8. Lunch is significantly cheaper than dinner. Creole salad with blackened salmon $9. Grilled cheese with wilted arugula
and bacon $10. Downstairs “Underwater” Lounge with F and Sa bands. Open M-Th 11:30am-2am, F-Sa 11:30am-4am, Su 10:30am-2am.
- Last Exit, 136 Atlantic Ave. (☎718-222-9198; www.lastexitbar.com), between Henry and Clinton St. S 2, 3, 4, 5, R to Court St./Borough Hall, F, G to Bergen St. This neighborhood bar has lots of twentysomethings, a live DJ
(Th-Sa 10pm), and a grill on which you cook your own food (4-9pm daily). The popular quiz night is on the 1st and 3rd M of
the month. The winner-take-all competition has a $5 entrance fee and categories like “Canadian or Not Canadian?” Beer $2-4.
Honey-apple martini $8. Happy hour 4-7pm; $3 pints, $15 “Cheap Date” (6 bottles of Miller High Life). Open daily 4pm-4am.
- Waterfront Ale House, 155 Atlantic Ave. (☎718-522-3794; www.waterfrontalehouse.com), between Henry and Clinton St. S 2, 3, 4, 5, M, R to Court St./Borough Hall. Though it’s not actually on the water, this casual local hangout is still worth
a trip. The food menu draws on every ethnic cuisine around. Santa Fe chicken wrap $9. Steamed vegetable dumplings $7. Tandoori
veggie burger $10. However, the best dishes are hearty American classics (pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries; $9).
The 15 beers on tap change seasonally; try to get a pint of Brooklyn Brown. Live jazz Sa 11pm-2am. Happy hour M-F 4-7pm; pints
