The Honolulu Advertiser (www.honoluluadvertiser.com) is Honolulu’s most esteemed daily paper, covering national and international news, business, technology, entertainment, sports, and island life. It is available in grocery and convenience stores and street vending boxes (M-Sa $0.50, Su $1.75). Honolulu Weekly (www.honoluluweekly.com) is a free community paper with events listings, incisive articles, and reviews available on street corners throughout Honolulu. This Week Oahu and Oahu Gold are free weekly coupon- and ad-laden brochure magazines available throughout Oahu. Both publications include helpful maps of Waikiki and Oahu. Hawaii Pacific University puts out Kalamalama, its student newspaper, 12 times a year. Pick up the paper on magazine racks around campus and write (kalamalama@hpu.edu) if you’re interested in writing about student or community issues. TGIF, in the Friday edition of the Honolulu Advertiser, is Hawaii’s best source for island entertainment listings and editorials.
