Brisbane night-owls can choose between sweaty clubs, noisy pubs, or classy lounges. Fortitude Valley is home to Brisbane’s best nightlife scene, with alternative bars, huge dance clubs, live music, and several gay establishments. In 2006, it was granted an exception to the city’s strict noise regulations, allowing it to pump up the volume like never before. Caxton St. in Petrie Terr. has a great atmosphere for watching a rugby game on the telly, while the CBD is a big draw for backpackers with its Irish pubs, drink specials, and rocking Thursday nights. Expect long lines on the weekend.
