The South is dotted with picturesque towns. To the east, the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur testify to Tassie’s fascinating colonial history. To the west, the entrance to the vast Southwest National Park welcomes visitors to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Between the two lie the hop vines of the Derwent Valley and the vast apple orchards of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel region, which don’t have many attractions but can offer temporary work.
