Tourism in the Southwest is booming, and it’s not hard to see why—Mother Nature has been kind to the region. The adventurous can hike in the Stirling and Porongurup ranges, dive with dolphins in Bunbury, scale sky-scraping trees in the Walpole-Narnalup park and Pemberton areas, and—as always—relax on quiet, pristine beaches with stunningly clear coastal waters. To boot, the region’s cultural offerings—particularly in the fine food and wine areas—are among the country’s best in quality and reputation. In the low season, the crowds depart and rates go down, but many activities—including surfing, whale-watching, spelunking, and wine-tasting—are still available.
