The lack of centralized attractions means transportation can be a hassle. Buses run by South West Coachlines depart Margaret River from Charles West St., two blocks from the Bussell Hwy., and goes to Perth (4hr.; 2 per day; $31, YHA $28). Transwa (☎1300 662 205) uses Margaret River Travel, 109 Bussell Hwy., as its area agent. (☎08 9757 2171. Open M-F 9am-5pm, Sa 9am-noon.) The best way to get around is by car. Rental is most easily arranged in Perth or Bunbury before arriving in Margaret River. In Busselton, Avis (☎08 9754 1175) operates out of the Toyota dealership at the west end of Peel Terr. Dunsborough Car Rentals (www.dunsburoughcarrentals.com), based out of the Dunsbuourgh YHA, also rents budget cars to drivers 25+. Margaret River Car Hire (☎08 1794 4485) is your best option with small cars and 4WDs from $55 per day. You can also rent bikes at various places in town, including Margaret River Cycles, 31 Station Rd. off Wallcliffe Rd. (☎08 2145 0677; www.westozbikes.com.au. Open M-F 9am-5pm, Sa 9am-1pm. $25 per 24hr.)
