Bang Bao Overview

This fishing village turned tourist destination is centered around the main pier, a virtual mini-city with guesthouses, restaurants, dive shacks, and souvenir shops hanging onto its edges.

Paradise Bang Bao Bungalows. (☎089 934 8044). The cheapest place to stay on the pier. A host of tiny rooms hoisted right over the water. Provides comforting mosquito nets to hang over your bed. Rooms 250฿.
Boo Guest House (☎09 831 1874), further down on the pier from Paradise Bang Bo, has simple rooms with private bathrooms. Here, too, rooms hang out over the water and are surrounded by colorful fishing vessels moored in the harbor. High-season rooms 500฿, low season 300฿.

Walk It Off. If you want to escape the crowds but can’t afford the boat transportation to Ko Chang’s outlying islands, try walking. Off the southern part of Kai Bae lies a small island where, at low tide, the waters recede, making it possible for you to spend a few hours on your own private island paradise. Mind the rising waters, though!
