Visitors Center: Christchurch i-Site Visitor Centre (☎379 9629; www.christchurchinformation.co.nz), in the Old Chief Post Office Bldg. in Cathedral Sq. Open daily in summer 8:30am-7pm, in winter 8:30am-5pm. Other i-Site offices (☎353 0004) are located in the domestic and international terminals of the airport. Open daily 7:30am-8pm and staffed during outside hours for flight arrivals.
Department of Conservation (DOC): 133 Victoria St. (☎379 3706; www.doc.govt.co.nz). Large supply of informational pamphlets about tramps on South Island. They can also book huts on South Island walking tracks. Open M-F 8:30am-5pm.
