Brest Overview
Brest (brehst; pop. 153,000) became a wasteland in 1944 when Allied bombers drove out the occupying German fleet. Reconstructed
in modern style, the city boasts a lively urban atmosphere with a twist of seaside flavor. Tourists and locals alike throng
its enormous Océanopolis aquarium.
