LONDON TRANSPORT MUSEUM. From tram to Tube, the museum takes visitors chronologically through the development of London’s public transportation system over the last 200 years, tracing London’s growth as a metropolis. Actual antique and modern carriages, trams, buses, trains, and Tube cars contain wax passengers and drivers, while a large screen plays live scenes from the Tube today. The last stop, “Fast Forward,” explores the future of transport, from hovercars to teleportation. (Southeast corner of Covent Garden Piazza. Covent Garden. ☎020 7565 7299; www.ltmuseum.co.uk. Open M-Th and Sa-Su 10am-6pm, F 11am-6pm; last entry 5:15pm. Wheelchair-accessible. £8, students £6, children under 16 free with adult.)

For 52 years, we have published the world’s favorite budget travel guides, written entirely by students and updated every year. With pen and notebook in hand and a few changes of underwear stuffed in our backpacks, we spend months roaming the globe in search of travel bargains.
