Working

We haven’t yet found money growing on trees, but we do have a team of dedicated Researchers looking high and low. Some travelers want long-term jobs that allow them to integrate into a community, while others seek out short-term jobs to finance the next leg of their travels. Those who can teach English will find many job openings in Greece.

Many popular youth hostels have bulletin boards with both long- and short-term employment opportunities. City News (http://athens.citynews.com/Employment.html) lists updated opportunities for work in Athens. Websites like www.jobs-in-europe.net and www.jobsabroad.com also can be helpful. EU citizens will have a much easier time finding work and will generally make better money than those from outside the EU. Note: working abroad often requires a special work visa Transitions Abroad (www.transitionsabroad.com) also offers updated online listings for work over any time period.

  • Visa Information. For legal employment in Greece, foreigners must apply for a work permit from the Ministry of Labor, Pireos 40, Athens 101 82. Permits can be difficult to acquire, so apply well in advance. EU residents can work in Greece for up to 3 months without a work permit, but one is required for longer stays.
