While most of Andalucía is the domain of foreign tourists seeking wild nightlife and miles of beaches, the Costa de la Luz remains a destination populated primarily by Spanish vacationers looking for some fun in the sun. Beyond the bodegas of Jerez de la Frontera, the region offers picture-perfect pueblos blancos (white towns), opportunities to catch some wind or waves, and the golden light that is its namesake. Backed by dry pines and golden-hued dunes of fine sand, the expansive beaches of Costa de la Luz are home to strong winds and waves that make it a paradise for windsurfers and surfboarders. Less developed than other vacation destinations, this region is also known for its wealth of protected natural reserves.
