Hat Sai Khao Overview

Prices have skyrocketed in recent years at Hat Sai Khao. Oceanside huts are now luxury bungalows, and large hotels increasingly flank the main road. Yet while budget accommodations are virtually nonexistent and the beach is now heavily touristed, Hat Sai Khao does offer the most services on the island. Dive shops, motorbike rentals, bars, restaurants, and Internet cafes are plentiful, though quiet seclusion is rare.

• Cookie’s Hotel & Restaurant (☎039 551 107), 300m south of Koh Chang Lagoon Resort. Provides renovated rooms with continually rising prices. Their cheapest rooms are on the side of the road far from the beach. All rooms have private bathrooms and A/C. A dip in the luxurious pool comes with an incredible view of the beach. High season singles 2000-2500฿, low season 1300-1800฿.
• Alina Resort, 9/10 Moo 4 (☎039 551 135; www.alinaresort.com), in the middle of the beach. A mid-range resort trying to appeal to an upscale crowd. 5 bungalows on the beach with private bathrooms and hot water. High-season budget rooms with fan 800฿, with A/C 1000฿; low-season with fan 600฿, with A/C 800฿. Other rooms 800-1200฿.
• Paloma Cliff Resort (☎039 551 119), at the beach’s southernmost point, has a pool and bamboo huts overlooking a rocky point. The cheapest ‘Cliff Wing’ rooms with fan are quirky, but removed from the beach and pool. Huts with fan high-season 1700฿, low season 1200฿. Other rooms with A/C 2000-2500/1500-2800฿.
