The peaceful Lahn River flows through this verdant valley, and the hills on either side of it are dappled with vineyards, quiet hamlets, and German families in search of outdoor fun. Every spring and summer, campgrounds and hostels fill with people who have come to take advantage of the hiking, biking, and kayaking available along the Lahn. Rail service runs regularly between Koblenz in the west and Gießen at the eastern end of the valley, as well as between Frankfurt and Limburg. Visit local bookstores to pick up hiking maps, and inquire at town tourist offices for locations of bike and boat rentals.
