Winding from Cahors to Cajarc, the fertile Lot Valley is a strip of green that shelters its temperate river and vineyards between steep cliffs. While the area’s natural beauty is best taken in at walking pace, infrequent bus traffic makes it easiest to explore the many out-of-the-way wonders by car. Some travelers choose to hitchhike, though Let’s Go does not advise it. The Cahors tourist office sells hiking maps (€4.60) of the entire Lot Valley.
