Black and White Hostel, R. Alexandre Herculano, 39, 1st fl. (☎213 46 22 12). M: Marquês de Pombal. From the station, walk away from the statue down Av. da Liberdade, and take a right on R. Alexandre Herculano. The hostel is 3 blocks down on your left. Rock bottom prices for a stay at one of the most artistic hostels in town—rooms are boldly painted with murals of psychedelic spirals and abstract creatures. 15min. walk to both Baixa and Bairro Alto. Free internet, towels, and breakfast. M-F 4- to 6-person room €17 person. 14-person room €14. Sa-Su all rooms €17. Cash only.
