clean rooms, friendly staff, and bountiful amenities make this new

take a right; hotel is across the street. Snug rooms mostly overlook a
busy street, which makes for a noisy stay, though some have views of
the green mountains that loom over Bolzano. All rooms have private

- Schwarze Katz, Stazione Magdalena di Sotto 2 (☎0471 97 54 17;

center. From the train station, turn right at V. Renon; keep left as
you pass the cable car station, and look for signs; walk uphill into
the steep driveway. Simple, spacious rooms in this family-run hostel
have TV and free Internet access. Most rooms use shared bathrooms.
Breakfast included. Reception open in summer M-Sa 7am-10pm; in winter

activities. Convenient to nearby trails for hikers looking for a
