Perugia Transportation to Perugia

Perugia's very small airport, International Airport of Umbria (PEG); (☎075 59 21 41 www.airport.umbria.it > 16km east of the city.) receives a few flights each day from a select group of cities like Milan, London (Stansted), Barcelona, Tirana, and Bucharest. Yep, that's a pretty random list. That's because this is a pretty random airport. There is a shuttle bus linking PEG with the city itself, and there are few enough flights arriving that the bus schedule can intersect with each of them. The shuttle will drop you off at P. Italia or at the train station. ( $ €3.50.)

Trains to Perugia arrive in Stazione Fontivegge in P. Vittorio Veneto. ( h Ticket office open daily 6:30am-12:50pm and 1:20-8:10pm. Automated machines 24hr.) Get here from Assisi ( $ €2.40. h 30min., 14 per day 8am-8pm.), Florence ( $ €10.10. h 2hr., every 2hr. 7am-9pm.), or Rome. ( $ €20. h 2½hr., 5 per day 7:45am-8pm.) From Rome, it's also possible to change trains in Foligno to where there is more frequent service. To get to Perugia from Cortona, also change in Foligno.

SULGA (☎075 50 09 64 www.sulga.it) runs a service to Florence, stopping in Siena. ( $ €10.50. h 2½hr.; M-F 1 per day, from Florence 6pm, from Perugia 9:30am.) The same company links Perugia with cities as far away as Milan ( h 6½hr., 1 bus per day on M-Tu and F-Sa, from Milan 4:45pm, from Perugia 4:40am.) and Naples. ( h 4½hr.; 1 per day, from Naples 8:15am, from Perugia 2:30pm.) Check their website for information on the infrequent service. APM (☎075 57 31 707 www.apmperugia.com) buses run between Perugia and Assisi. ( $ €3. h 50min., 9 per day.)

APM (☎075 50 67 81 www.apmperugia.it) connects the main train and bus station with the outer edges of the city for €1.50 per ride.

This light rail connects Stazione Fontivegge and Pincetto (the centro). (☎075 50 58 753 www.minimetrospa.it $ €1. h Operates M-Sa 7am-9:20pm, Su 8:30am-8:30pm. Extended hours during Umbria Jazz Festival.) For more information, see Sights.

Radio Taxi provides taxis. (☎075 50 04 888 www.radiotaxiperugia.it h 24hr.) Find cab stands at P. Italia, P. Partigiani, Ospedale Silvestrini, the airport, and the train station. = Warning: prices will rise steeply and arbitrarily during the Umbria Jazz Festival.
