As a major transportation hub for southern Costa Rica, most travelers will pass through this medium-sized town (pop. 10,800) on the way to more popular destinations on the Osa Peninsula. Palmar also happens to be at the center of a major banana growing region and offers phenomenal fresh fruit at roadside stands and supermarkets. Its variety of speedy Internet options make it a great place to get back in touch with home.
