Sit back and let the sights come to you. The Bus Turístic stops at 44 points of interest along three different routes (red for the north, blue for the south, and green for the eastern waterfront). Tickets come with an eight-language brochure with information on each sight. A full ride on the red or blue route takes about 2hr., green takes 40min., but the idea is to get off at any place of interest and use the bus (as many times as you want in your allotted days) as a convenient means of transportation. Multilingual guides stationed in every bus help orient travelers and answer questions. You can buy tickets once on board, or ahead of time at Turisme de Catalunya, Pl. de Catalunya, 17, in front of El Corte Inglés, and at www.barcelonaturisme.com. Many of the museums and sights covered by the bus offer discounts with the bus ticket; some are closed on Mondays. (Buses run daily every 5-25min. First departure 9-9:30am; no service Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. 1-day pass €20, ages 4-12 €12; 2-day pass €26.)

For 52 years, we have published the world’s favorite budget travel guides, written entirely by students and updated every year. With pen and notebook in hand and a few changes of underwear stuffed in our backpacks, we spend months roaming the globe in search of travel bargains.
