If you’re one to fall asleep during train rides, make the effort to stay awake during the trek through the breathtaking valleys and magical pine forests of Rías Altas. Thick fogs and misty mornings do a good job of keeping the Rías Altas hidden from most visitors. With the exception of A Coruña, the area’s busy capital, the Rías Altas seem to have been nearly forgotten by tourism, but that’s the most compelling reason to visit: residents of the tiniest of coastal towns heartily welcome travelers, and visitors who make it here will find miles of green estuaries and secluded beaches all to themselves.
