Segovia’s famous aqueduct and imposing castle, set high above lush green hills, make it feel like something out of a picture-book. Its beauty hasn’t gone unnoticed, with tourists streaming in every day, cameras out, to try and capture a little of the magic. It was here, too, that Columbus charmed the crown into financing his journey to the New World. Though Segovia is a city of 60,000, you’d hardly notice—stay for a few days and you’re sure to recognize a few faces by the end. If you do make it to this “stone ship” (so called because the stone aqueduct resembles a ship’s helm), expect to shell out a little more cash; but trust us, Segovia should not be missed.
