Upon arriving at Keflavik airport (the main international airport for Reykjavik), we were informed that the cheapest "booze" to be found in all of Iceland was available in the duty-free shop upon arriving at the airport. After the financial collapse in 2008, a 200% tax was added to alcoholic beverages, so if you want to buy beer, wine or spirits...

When you travel to Iceland everyone tells you to visit the the Blue Lagoon near Keflavik. With the bus fare, 40 minute drive, overpriced entry ticket and murky questionable water it's hardly worth the hassle. A 10 minute walk from Reykjavik's city center will land you at a beach with volleyball, a grill, and a free hot tub.

Bjarins betzu pylsur - a hotdog stand near the Reykjavik Opera house, came highly recommended. So we had to check it out. For about $2.50, you can get a very delish hotdog. Icelanders love hotdogs and we love Icelandic hotdogs.
