While the path from Sydney up the North Coast has been well-worn by hordes of backpackers, the South Coast has only recently been discovered by tourists. Local residents proudly proclaim that it’s one of Australia’s best-kept secrets, and many city-weary visitors will be inclined to agree. The region’s beaches are only minutes away from lush rainforests and are usually far less crowded than those in the north. Princes Hwy., south of Sydney, links South Coast destinations like Bateman’s Bay, Jervis Bay, and Kiama.
