If you want to party in Poble Nou, trade in your skimpy clubbing outfit for something a little more grunge, brush up your foosball skills, and be prepared to jam to heavy metal with Spanish teens or classic rock with the 30-somethings. This neighborhood is the place to be for hard rock and alternative music. Locals have put abandoned warehouses to good use in the blocks around Bogetell, L4. The drinks here are remarkably cheap, and as the patrons are (young) locals, not tourists, the crowd flow is the reverse of the rest of the city: packed during the school year and slower in summer.

This warehouse-turned-tavern has a strange medieval-industrial vibe. Foosball and pool tables line the back room, where the stone walls and iron rafters may have you confused about the century you’re drinking in. Beer €1.80; pitchers €2.30. Open M-W 7am-5pm, Th 7am-5pm and 10pm-2:30am, F 7-3am, Sa 5pm-3am. Kitchen open all night, serving panzzas (pizza) and creptilles (crepes) among other snacks. Cash only.

Dark, smoky bar with concrete floors and just the right amount of grime. If you brought your Ramones or AC/DC T-shirt, now’s the time to break it out. Beer €3. Shots €2.50. Blues jam sessions every Su at 8pm. Live rock, often with a cover (€4-12). Open F-Sa 10pm-3am. Cash only.
