Tourists can cross into Egypt from Eilat at the Taba border crossing. For Sinai stays of 14 days or less, get a Sinai-only visa stamp on the Egyptian side of the border. This visa limits travel to the Gulf of Aqaba coast as far south as Sharm al-Sheikh (but not the area around Sharm al-Sheikh, including Ras Muhammad) and to St. Catherine’s monastery and Mt. Sinai (but not sites in the vicinity of St. Catherine’s). Unlike ordinary one-month Egyptian visas, the Sinai-only visa has no grace period; you’ll pay a hefty fine if you overextend your stay.
