France Measurements

France invented—and still uses—the Système International d’Unités (metric system). The basic unit of length is the meter (m), which is divided into 100 centimeters (cm) or 1000 millimeters (mm). Fluids are measured in liters (L). A liter of pure water weighs one kilogram (kg), the unit of mass that is divided into 1000 grams (g). One metric ton is 1000kg.
