  • Mr. Kebab, V. Oderisi da Gubbio 231 (☎33 87 68 52 14). Steaming-hot storefront serves one of the best kebabs (€3.50-5) in town, over rice or in a sandwich. The falafel wrap (€3) is stellar. All ingredients are fresh, and the friendly servers cook them right in front of your eyes—hence the high temperatures. Good-looking sides, pizza, supplì, and sweet Middle Eastern desserts.   • Il Cornettone, V. Oderisi da Gubbio 219 (☎06 55 87 922). Romans rave about this cornetto joint, which serves over 50 varieties of the city’s favorite coffee accompaniments. But these babies aren’t just for breakfast—the shop doesn’t even open some mornings, but it’s open late every night, when it becomes a neighborhood hangout. Open M-Th 6am-1pm and 6pm-3am, F-Sa 7pm-5am, Su 6pm-3am. Cash only.
  • Gelarmony, V. Oderisi da Gubbio 201-5 (☎06 55 66 808). You’ll get a serious sugar surge from the brightly colored gelato at the Marconi branch of this Sicilian-style chain. Generous chunks of meringue, chocolate, and other tooth-killers are whipped up fresh and elaborately presented. Also sells what it proudly proclaims “real Sicilian cannoli” (€2)—they’re filled with sweet and creamy ricotta as you wait. Cones and cups from €1.50. Open daily 9am-2am. MC/V.
  • Ombralonga Vinerie, V. Oderisi da Gubbio 41/43 (☎06 55 94 212). Relaxed neighborhood wine bar with white brick walls stocks nearly 200 different bottles on a mammoth row of shelves. Popular with locals at aperitif time for a relaxing glass of wine (most around €4) and some cheese and charcuterie. Also serves a light lunch and dinner. Open M-Sa 10:30am-11:30pm. MC/V.
  • Da Vittorio, V. Mario Musco 29/31 (☎06 54 08 272). B-Marconi or bus #761/671 from EUR to V. di Grotta Perfetta. Local families include the chefs and staff in their epicurean revelry, under the watchful eyes of Italian movie stars hanging on wall tacks. Summer special polenta spuntature e salsiccia (polenta with spare ribs and sausage, €13, available W). Primi €5-10. Secondi €6-14. Wine from €12 per bottle. Fresh fish is the specialty at one of the only bastions of affordability in the heart of EUR, served outdoors under a permanent metal awning and modern oil paintings. Snack bar delivers drinks, pastries, and sandwiches from 1 long counter. Self-service lunch. Primi €8-12. Fish and meat secondi priced by weight. Snack bar open daily 6am-1am. Huge, flowering bushes fill the air with a pleasant fragrance around this classy cafe’s softly glowing tables. Delicious gelato (€1.80-3.10); the passion fruit will leave you refreshed and all tingly. Pastries (€1-3), panini, and calzones (€1-3) feed your appetite in between rounds of coffee and drinks. Marconi. 50 ft. from the epicenter of Mussolini-town, the plant-shielded patio is a quiet oasis of shockingly affordable fare in an elegant setting. Self-service lunch (daily noon-3pm) allows a choice of primi (€3.90), secondi (€4.70), fish (€5.70), and fresh fruit (€2.80), along with a selection of gelato and pastries. Pizza €6-9.
