  • Teatro Coliseum, Gran Vía, 78 (☎91 523 82 83), Since Gran Vía is often referred to as the Broadway of Madrid, it makes sense that the sprawling Teatro Coliseum, currently home to the smash hit Chicago, El Musical, is located there. One of the biggest theaters in the city, Teatro Coliseum has hosted some of Broadway's best, including Beauty and the Beast and Mamma Mia! Plaza de España. From the plaza walk east down Gran Vía. Theater will be on your left. Prices vary depending on seat location. Check online for showtimes. Takes credit cards. No wheelchair access. Serves alcohol. Has air conditioning.
  • Teatro Español, C. del Principe, 25 (☎91 360 14 80), Funded by Madrid's municipal government, Teatro Español features a range of classic Spanish plays and performances. Watch a show, then relax and have dinner at one of the many restaurants and bars in Plaza Santa Ana. Antón Martín. Walk uphill on Atocha. Make a right at the 1st light and keep walking until you see Plaza Santa Ana. Tickets €3-20; half-price on W. Box office open daily 11:30am-1:30pm and 5-6pm. Takes credit cards. No wheelchair access. Serves alcohol.
  • Teatro Häagen-Dazs Calderón, C. de Atocha, 18 (☎91 200 66 17; www.teatrohaagen-dazs.es), Named for its recent takeover by { Häagen-Dazs, this massive theater has a seating capacity of 2000 and features modern musicals, dance, and theater performances. Recent shows include Cómplices, El Musical, Rafael Amargo, Princesas Del Flamen, and Diary of Anne Frank—The Musical. Tirso de Molina. From Tirso, walk straight north up C. del Doctor Cortezo. Tickets €25-60. Shows begin most evenings at 8pm. Takes credit cards. No wheelchair access. Serves alcohol. Has air conditioning.
  • Teatre Bellas Artes, Marqués de Casa Riera, 2 (☎91 532 44 37; www.teatrobellasartes.es), Putting on 10 plays a year, Teatre Bellas Artes has been a huge cultural center since the 19th century in Madrid. Recent productions includes Fedra, El Rey de Algeciras, and a performance of Ingmar Bergman's Autumn Sonata. Banco de España. Walk west down C. de Alcalá and make a left onto Marqués de Casa Riera. Tickets €16-25. Box office open Tu-Su 11:30am-1:30pm and 5pm-curtain. Takes credit cards. No wheelchair access. Serves alcohol. Has air conditioning.
