Continue northward to cheerful Natal (2 days), where you can catch some live samba and rent yourself a dune buggy. Motor along the coast to Canoa Quebrada (2 days) and mingle with laid-back locals; visitors flock each weekend to party by the town’s pink dunes. Push on to Fortaleza (2 day), home to a famed cultural center and the region’s best contemporary art. Take some time to appreciate the pristine Praia da Lagoinha (2 days), sample the fresh seafood, and marvel at the relative quiet of this fabulous beach.
