On the island of Borneo, “Orangutantrop” recruits volunteers who are “interested in conservation, physically fit, enthusiastic and hard-working” to preserve the rainforest ecosystem, especially orangutans. Popular among college undergraduates and recent grads. During your 7-week volunteer experience, you will stay in “comfortable” accommodations (included). Volunteer tasks vary widely, but they usually involve going into the forest and observing stuff (gibbon calls, anyone?). The program costs £1500.
