Bloomsbury is London’s intellectual powerhouse, home to the British Museum, near Russell Square, the British Library, on Euston Road, and University College London, on Gower Street. The area was a famous haunt of 20th-century intellectuals—and, as a result, is filled to the brim with specialty bookshops—but its squares are some of the best places to throw books aside in the name of picnics and suntans. Meanwhile, Charlotte Street in the east is a destination for anyone looking for a relaxing drink, a delicious meal, or peaceful people watching. King’s Cross is the biggest interchange but not the most convenient. Goodge St. and Russell Sq. are central; Euston, Euston Sq., and Warren St. hit the north border.
