Just as London became a staple character in many literary works, so too has it become a backdrop and a production set. Several contemporary hits have been filmed in London, including Alfie, Blackmail, and the Oscar-nominated Match Point, Closer, and Dirty Pretty Things. London celebrates film each year at the annual London Film Festival in October.
