This is a giant splurge for a backpacker, but perfect for a couple in search of a magical stay, providing the best of both worlds: a forest escape from all that is the tourist influx of Prague, while being just a skip down the cobblestone street from it. The hotel is run by a family of genial artists who are only too excited to make your visit to Prague better than the movies. Tram 22: Brusnice. From the tram, walk across the street and onto the path that leads towards the trees. Walk down the giant staircase and the hotel will be on the left directly at the base of the stairs. From the tram, head west on Malostranské náměstí, which becomes Nerudova, and then eventually Úvoz. Huge breakfast buffet 125Kč. TV in every room. Wi-Fi included. Some rooms make you think you've stepped into the queen's chambers. If you're already doling out more than usual, keep the experimentation going with a quick douse in the bidet, available in the most expensive rooms. Trams 12, 20, 22, 91: Malostranské náměstí. From the tram, head west on Malostranské náměstí, which becomes Nerudova; the hotel will be on your left. Breakfast and Wi-Fi included. You can often score a better deal if you book online. From the tram, head west on Malostranské náměstí, which will become Nerudova, and then eventually Úvoz. Offers 8 minimally but tastefully decorated suites. The real selling point, however, is the terrace. The best rooms get a spectacular view of Petřín Hill, while the less fancy digs get a decent view of another building’s roof.
