Booti Booti features extensive coastal wetlands and heath communities, as well as palm forest along the edge of Wallis Lake. To reach the park, follow The Lakes Way south of Forster along the coastline of Elizabeth Beach. Bikers can use the same route (allow 1hr. each way), but there is no real bike path along the road, so use caution. Booti Booti’s highlight is the spectacular view from Cape Hawke Lookout, just a few kilometers from Forster (follow Cape Hawke Dr. off of The Lakes Way until the carpark). A 420m climb up a wooded path leads to a 20m tower, from which the beautiful beaches and forests encompassing Forster can be seen. The ranger station is at The Ruins Camping Area , by the soft white sand of Seven-Mile Beach and a mangrove forest. (☎02 6591 0300. Center open M-F 9am-4pm. BBQ, toilets, and showers. Sundowner Tiona Tourist Park , 15min. south of Forster and 500m north of The Ruins, rents sites on both the Wallis Lake and Seven-Mile Beach sides of the road. On the west side of Tiona, the outdoor Green Cathedral overlooks Wallis Lake, its wooden altar and pews enclosed only by soaring palm trees. A walk around the lake through cabbage tree palms and eucalyptus trees leads to the ocean and Elizabeth Beach to the east.
