Speakers' Corner Hyde Park, Park Ln. ( N/A ; N/A ) This innocuous corner of Hyde Park is the stage for political, religious, and social debates. Speakers present ideas, challenge each other, and take questions from the audience. There are no set hours, and anyone is welcome to speak. Come watch free speech in action! Lancaster Gate. Take left onto Bayswater Rd. Go in through Victoria Gate and continue left down Hyde Park. Stay close to Bayswater Rd. Free. Hours vary, but can be 9am-10pm in summer.

Alexander Fleming Museum, St. Mary's Hospital Praed St. (020 7886 6528; N/A ) Walk the same steps Alexander Fleming walked on the day in 1928 when he discovered Penicillin. The museum is small, but it successfully recreates the original conditions of the laboratory. Worth a visit if only to see the room where a discovery that completely changed the entire last century was made. Informative film and a room with facts about the discovery can be found upstairs. Edgware Rd. Right on Chapel St. and continue onto Praed St. Look for St. Mary’s. There will be a gate and a passageway. The museum is on your left with a picture of the petri dish in which penicillin was discovered. Tours by request. £4, students and seniors £2. Open M-Th 10am-1pm. No wheelchair access. Air conditioned.

Subway Gallery, Joe Strummer Subway (078 1128 6503; www.subwaygallery.com) Bringing a new meaning to the term "underground art" (their joke), the Subway Gallery features installations from local artists often dealing with pop culture or music. Check the website for exhibit information. Exhibits change monthly. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by this very cool venue, but don't go out of your way to get here. And we wouldn't recommend traveling here at night. Edgware Rd. Exit, take sharp right down Cabbell St., left before the flyover and then go down the stairs into Joe Strummer Subway. Free. Open M-Sa 11am-7pm. Wheelchair access.
