Menaggio (meh-NA-jee-yo; pop. 3200) is home to terra-cotta rooftops and stunning scenery. Travelers have recently caught on, though Menaggio is somehow less overwhelmed by tourists than other lakeside towns, while offering an equal number of sites and conveniences. Menaggio’s beauty, central location, cheap accommodations, and excellent ferry connections make it the perfect base for exploring any part of Lake Como or the nearby mountains.
