The 16km long Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is lined with waterfalls that make it one of Norway’s most spectacular—and touristed—destinations. While cruising through the icy water, watch for the Seven Sisters waterfalls and, across from them, the wooing Suitor waterfall. The suitor was rejected by all seven sisters and took to the bottle, which explains why the shape of a beer bottle is visible through the water, or so the story goes. Geirangerfjord can be reached from the north via the Trollstigen road from Åndalsnes, by bus from Ålesund, or for the most scenic route, via ferry from Hellesylt.
