La Seu (pop. 12,200), a peaceful town on a Pyrenean plain between two rivers, was an important political center in the Middle Ages and still retains its religious significance today. More recently, it hosted the 1992 Summer Olympics canoe and kayak events. La Seu also serves as Spain’s gateway to the tiny country of Andorra, just a few kilometers to the north. Budget accommodations, a relaxed atmosphere, and a very pleasant series of parks make this a good place to rest between excursions throughout the region.
