Blues Special Club, Almirante Brown 102 (☎4362 7052). This popular club hosts bands playing jazz, blues, rock, and reggae. There’s usually a jam session on F nights and major shows on Th, Sa, and Su. The neighborhood is dangerous, so take a taxi. Cover varies.

Tango

Tango is everywhere on the streets in La Boca. If you stick around long enough, you’re guaranteed to run into a random exhibition happening somewhere. Some establishments also run official shows.

Caminito Tango Show, Dr. Enrique del Valle Iberlucea 1151 (☎4301 1520). Though many of the restaurants that line El Caminito and Del Valle Iberlucea regularly put on tango shows to entertain the crowds, this daily indoor show is more formal than most. It’s still free, but you’re expected to buy lunch. Entrees AR$8-25.
