La Esquina de Homero Manzi, Av. San Juan 3601 (☎4957 8488; www.esquinahomeromanzi.com.ar). S Boedo. After famous tango lyricist Homero Manzi sang about the corner of Av. Boedo and Av. San Juan, it didn’t take too long for someone to found a tango establishment in this historic cafe. The daily shows at 10pm are, unsurprisingly, a flashy affair; get here an hour early if you’d like to have dinner. From AR$50.

Theater

Pan y Arte, Av. Boedo 876-880 (☎4957 6922). S Boedo. A small theater that shows modern productions on weekends (tickets from AR$15). Next door, there’s a lovely cafe which is a wonderful cross between modern and rustic atmosphere. Salads and sandwiches AR$9-22. Other entrees AR$20-40. Free Wi-Fi. Open M-Sa 9am-late. AmEx/MC/V.
Timbre 4, Av. Boedo 640 (☎4932 4395; www.timbre4.com). S Boedo. An alternative theater that has hosted the very popular La Omisión de la Familia Coleman F-Su in the evenings for the last 4-5 years. Tickets AR$30.
Boedo XXI, Av. Boedo 853 (☎4957 1400). S Boedo. Yet another small, cutting-edge theater, which stages productions on weekends. Tickets AR$10-20.
