You could consider this excessive mothering, but it’s essential to mention it somewhere, so bear with us—in the Southern Hemisphere, June-September is winter and December-March is summer. We know, it’s crazy. Almost as crazy as the toilets flushing the opposite direction in the Southern Hemisphere (this is actually false). Buenos Aires itself, in “sciencey,” technical terms, has what’s called a humid subtropical climate. This means that it’s very hot during the summer and mild in winter. Here’s another way to think of it: by latitude, Buenos Aires is as far south of the equator as Florida is north, so the climate is, not surprisingly, remarkably similar to Florida’s.
