Glowing with cheery pastels, Bosa (BO-sa; pop. 7,935) is half medieval city, half Riviera vacation hot spot. Situated on the banks of the Temo River, the only navigable river in Sardinia, Bosa boasts a trademark castle, situated high up on a hill overlooking palm tree-lined streets and spacious piazze on the Temo River Valley. Though the centro storico is generally a sleepy place, the newer Bosa Marina, 1km from the old city, boasts beautiful beaches, an assortment of seaside bars, and a hostel. If arriving by bus or car from Oristano, you will be treated to some incredible views from the small hill-towns along the way.
